About me

Let me introduce myself. My name is Sjoerd Stottelaar. I'm 34 years old and living in Lichtenvoorde. With my fiancé Katinka and daughter Rozemijn we live a happy and cozy life.

In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family. Go to the woods, enjoy nature, and mostly enjoy the quiet life. I enjoy playing video games and listening to (a lot of) music. From electronic music to metal, my taste in music can be confusing for some.

I am passionate about helping others, whether through lending an ear, brainstorming together, or just being there for someone who needs it. Making a positive impact on lives is what satisfies me.

Background

Technology has been a big part of my life since I was a little kid. I still remember when my parents got our first PC when I was only 4 years old. From that moment on, I was absolutely hooked!

I spent hours tinkering around with MS-DOS, and before long, I was playing video games and creating doodles with PC Paint. Little did I know that this early love for technology would shape my entire career.

I've always been curious and have a thirst for knowledge, and that hasn't changed one bit. When I was in high school, my parents bought a 56K modem - and let me tell you, that was a game-changer! My brother and I started surfing the web, and it felt like a whole new world had opened up for us.

But I didn't just want to use the internet - I wanted to understand how it worked. I wanted to know how to build my own website, and that's when my journey as a front-end developer truly began.

Fast forward a few years, and I found myself building websites for small companies. Friends and family started to see me as the go-to person for website help, and I became known as the "nephew who knows about computers".

As I dived deeper into web design and development, I realized that problem-solving was one of the most important skills I could have. Whether it was a bug in the code or a design challenge, I loved the feeling of figuring out a solution and making everything work seamlessly together.

After working professionally as a front-end developer for over 4 years now, I've built up a pretty diverse set of skills. But it's not just about knowing the latest technology - for me, it's all about the intersection between design and technology.

I love nothing more than creating user experiences that are not only functional but truly help others accomplish something. Whether it's working with a team to develop a strong vision or getting down to the nitty-gritty details of coding, I thrive on the challenge of bringing great design to life through technology.
